If you saw my other post on algae, then you know that Sea Moss is a type of algae. But, what is so special about sea moss?
Sea moss like other algae contains vitamins B2, B12, calcium, chromium, magnesium and zinc. It is a great vitamin source for vegans! It contains a whopping 92 minerals and helps promote healthy digestion, healthy heart, immune system, metabolism and thyroid!
It can be used as a topical or included into recipes such as a smoothie addition, thickener for sauces, mixed with gelatin or just eat it with a spoon. Many companies make their sea moss flavored if eating straight from the jar. Personally I like the unflavored and will mix it into my lemon electrolyte water or when I make homemade gelatin. You can also buy it as a powder or capsule.
If you'd like to purchase sea moss, check your local health food stores/ vitamin shops. You can also find it online through various vendors. Personally (and for all my Long Island locals) I get mine from Photain in Port Jefferson.
